About me
My Education Philosophy:
Education is among the most valuable things you can share with another person. The job of an educator is not only to help students learn something new, it is to empower them with the feeling of growth that comes with personal accomplishment. This empowerment is something that stays with individuals as they continue to face challenges beyond an academic context. It is a newly embodied potential to live with greater satisfaction and confidence. It is the means of improvement for the whole community. Educators influence the future of their society by helping to build it from the ground up. When teachers are included in the conversation, and are supported by the system they work within, they have the potential to build a generation that is stronger than the ones that came before it. I remember my favorite teachers and I hold them dear. Not only for the knowledge they shared, but for showing me how to productively interact with that which I do not understand. Teachers are often remembered for their commitment, trust, and caring attitude, yet they do so much more than that. They teach us how to grow and prosper as individuals in world that is larger than our selves. It is because I recognize the full extent of my teachers’ impact on my life that I hold myself responsible for working to build the best tools and support systems possible for educators. I believe that access to education should be considered a human right, not a socioeconomic privilege. I strive to collaborate in the creation of accessible curriculum that supports student growth on an academic and personal level. By focusing on intellectual achievement, and the confidence necessary to pursue it, young students grow into contributing leaders of their own community. This fosters the preservation and growth of progress and cultural identity, allowing the community to flourish. The core responsibility of every teacher is to educate students in a way that allows them to confidently hold ownership over their academic accomplishments as well as their individual identity. The core responsibility of every school system is to work along side teachers to provide them with the infrastructure necessary to do this critically important job. The opportunity to make thoughtful decisions comfortably, and honestly express individual creativity is an experience everyone deserves, no matter where they are from. |
